Refund and Returns Policy

At Estellar Pty Ltd, we want you to be completely satisfied with your solar and lighting investments. We take pride in the quality of our products, but we understand that sometimes an item might not be exactly what you needed.

Our Refund and Returns Policy is designed to comply fully with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible.

1. The 7-Day “Change of Mind” Return Policy

If you purchase a product online and decide it’s not right for you, you have 7 days from the date of delivery to log a return.

To qualify for a “Change of Mind” refund or exchange, the item must be:

  • Completely unused and in its original, undamaged packaging.

  • Accompanied by all original accessories, manuals, remote controls, and components.

  • In a resalable condition.

Note: Due to nature of  certain products (underwear and bed linen, for example) are not eligible for return.

Please Note: For change-of-mind returns, you will be responsible for the cost of the return courier fees to our warehouse, or we can arrange a collection and deduct the courier fee from your final refund amount. Initial shipping fees are non-refundable.

2. Damaged on Arrival (Transit Damage)

We package our solar panels and lighting systems securely, but accidents can happen during transport.

  • Please inspect your order immediately upon delivery.

  • If your package arrives visibly damaged, please report it to us at support@estellar.co.za within 48 hours of receipt.

  • Please include clear photographs of both the damaged packaging and the damaged product.

  • We will arrange for a courier to collect the damaged item and dispatch a replacement or issue a full refund at no extra cost to you.

3. Defective or Faulty Products (Warranty Claims)

We stand by the technical quality of our solar products. If your solar light, battery, or panel develops a manufacturing fault after installation, you are covered by our standard warranty.

  • Within 6 Months: In accordance with the CPA, if a product is found to be materially defective within 6 months of delivery, you are entitled to a repair, a replacement, or a full refund.

  • After 6 Months: Faults that develop after 6 months fall under the specific manufacturer’s warranty (where applicable) for repair or replacement.

What is NOT Covered under Warranty:

We cannot offer refunds, replacements, or free repairs for damages resulting from:

  • Normal wear and tear.

  • Lightning strikes, power surges, or incorrect electrical installations.

  • Accidental damage, misuse, or abuse.

  • Altering, opening, or repairing the product without Estellar’s written authorization.

  • Incorrect installation (e.g., mounting an indoor lantern outside in the rain, or mounting a solar panel facing South away from the sun).

4. How to Log a Return or Refund

1.Contact Our Support Team:
Email us at support@estellar.co.za or use our online contact page. Provide your Order Number, the name of the product you wish to return, and a brief description of the reason for the return.
2.Provide Visual Proof:

If the product is faulty or damaged, attach clear photos or a short video demonstrating the defect. This helps our technical team diagnose the issue quickly.

3.Package the Item Safely:

Once approved for return, package the item securely back into its original box. Secure it inside an outer box or wrapping to protect the original packaging during transit.

4.Hand Over to Courier:

We will coordinate with our courier partners to arrange a pickup from your designated address, or provide you with drop-off instructions.

5. Processing Your Refund

Once your return package arrives back at our warehouse, it will be inspected by our quality assessment team to confirm it meets the criteria outlined above.

  • Inspection Window: This technical inspection usually takes 2 to 4 business days from arrival.

  • Refund Method: Approved refunds will be processed back into the original payment method used during checkout (via PayFast/Ozow/Credit Card) or via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

  • Timeline: Depending on your banking institution, funds may take 5 to 7 business days to reflect in your account once processed.

6. Items Excluded from Returns

Unless the item is physically defective upon opening, we cannot accept returns on:

  • Vouchers or digital gift cards.

  • Products bought on a clearance or “as-is” flash sale where defects were explicitly disclosed beforehand.

  • Customized or specially ordered bulk commercial items.
